Dossofiorito are the designers Livia Rossi (1980) and Gianluca Giabardo (1982).
The studio, whose name comes from an old salvaged neon sign, was founded in 2012 in Verona, Italy.
Initially, operating from a former car workshop, the duo carried out in an empiric way its researches on forms and materials, aiming to combine in their projects a wide contextual research, encompassing different fields and disciplines, with an experimental use of craft.
The studio has relocated to Helsinki, Finland in 2018, where Gianluca is teaching at the Design Department of Aalto University and has just started his doctoral research on Symbiotic Conviviality.
The work of Livia and Gianluca spans from self-initiated collections of objects to commissions from institutions, companies and private customers; from site-specific installations to the ideation and conduction of children workshops. Although varied, many of Dossofiorito’s projects share a performative and relational attitude and often act as a vehicle for thoughts and considerations that go beyond the physicality of the object and its immediate fruition.
