Les Choses is a reverse cabinet in which the content has become the container.
Thanks to the impressions left on the wet clay, old family tools are brought back to light in a fossile-like status and are arranged neatly on the surface of the furniture piece.
In their physical absence, these objects have become super-presences: the deep stoneware imprints are not mere graphic signs, but they retain part of the original materiality. Offering themselves more often to our glances, these objects exercise again and again all their evocative power.
Les Choses is a one-off piece conceived in occasion of the exhibition “L’essence du Beau” curated by Sam Baron at the Biennale Saint Etienne 2015
