Autumn fog. The gloomy milkiness that alters distances and takes away depth from the landscape, can either be loved or hated.
Sometimes though, it happens to come across presences that strongly emerge from the fog.
In the visual isolation they are surrounded by, these elements become of particular interest to our eyes.
Cotinus Coggygria is a native european tree, spontaneously growing in Veneto, the north-eastern region of Italy where the studio is based. Many believe that this tree is commonly called “albero della nebbia”, smoketree, for the candyfloss-like inflorescences it produces in springtime.
But if one asks the locals, they will tell that there is another reason for this name: in autumn Cotinus’ leaves turn of such a fiery-red that, they say, the little tree can stand out even in the thick fog banks frequently recurring in this region.
